September: Fall kick-off event
glimaWest held its kick-off event, entitled "Business Analytics: Using Business
Intelligence To Make Better Decisions," on Sept. 18 at Noto's Old World Italian
Dining in Grand Rapids. The event, sponsored by MicroStrategy and Structure
Interactive, was highlighted by a panel discussion that answered questions from
the audience such as implementation of business intelligence systems and the
benefit of use of business intelligence.
The event featured two additional presentations in addition to the panel
discussion. Michael Suarez of MicroStrategy gave a presentation on industry
trends and best practices and Ben Taub of DataSpace discussed knowledge enabled
business process. Attendees also took advantage of networking with peers and
industry experts over appetizers and cocktails.
"Events such as this offer tremendous value for the Grand Rapids business and
technology communities," said Darren Brown, president of glimaWest. "Similar
presentations in places of Chicago may cost hundreds of dollars. glimaWest's
events offer comparable opportunity for high-level discussion and interaction
on topics such as business intelligence locally and at a fraction of the cost."
