For those that attended, they were treated to a short,
productive networking session, followed by a brief welcome and announcements
from our president Jeff Meyers.
The courtyard space behind Tre Cugini, in downtown Grand Rapids, provided a nice
backdrop to the event presented by aimWest on this evening.
$1,500 scholarships were awarded to two different area students who are pursuing
degrees in technology related fields. It was the first year that one of those
scholarships went to a high-school student entering into an area college.
After the scholarship presentations, Birgit Klohs from the Right Place, Inc.
presented her views on West Michigan's Framework for Innovation. Birgit always
provides excellent insight into the economic development challenges we see in
the West Michigan area, and how The Right Place and local businesses are
responding in these uncertain, though, improving economic times. A lengthy
question and answer session also proved to be very productive.
