What are you doing?
Twitter, UC & the Presence Revolution

Location: GVSU Eberhard Center (map)
Networking Time: 5:30pm

In case you have been at the beach awhile:
“Twitter” is the microblogging social network that lets you and your peeps tell the world what you are doing or thinking at any given time.

“Presence” is the status of a your current availability at any given time.

"Unified communications" is simply your presence communicated across all the applications and devices you might communicate with, including e-mail, IM, office phone, mobile device, etc. so you can always be connected.

Interact with our panel as they discuss how organizations are using these technologies to stay connected.

Panelists include Kim Carey with Microsoft, providing insight on Unified Communications from "enterprise"perspective, Joe Johnston of Universal Mind, a huge Twitter user and leading developer with insights into location-based social networks, and Betsy Weber, Chief Evangelist for TechSmith in Okemos, MI.

The panel discussion is centered on “Presence” trends that are rapidly reshaping the personal and business world thorough:

  1. People’s desire to let others know what they are doing and to know what others are doing all day long (Twitter)
  2. Business’s desire for its employees and business partners to communicate and be communicated with transparently no matter where or when or how (unified communications ).
  • How and why are individuals and businesses rushing towards this connected future?
  • Who is benefitting from this revolution?
  • What are the positive and negative implications of this desire to be “connected” 24/7?
